4. Where is Quinton Coples? Coples has failed to make an impact so far this regular season. The preseason standout defensive end has yet to make the immediate impact the Jets coaching staff was expecting. While three games into a career is not long enough to make a judgement on Coples, but his 4 tackles thus far this season is a big let down. While he shined in the preseason, Quinton Coples has looked overpowered, and seemingly lost in the action when on the field, playing fewer downs than expected as he learns the nuances of the NFL game. While Coples is a promising player, he must make plays to inject life into what is a middling defense at this point in the season.
Bilal Powell may be overtaking Shonn Greene for carries in the backfield. Greene has never looked slower than he did today against a stout Miami run defense. He lacked a burst at the line of scrimmage and failed to hit holes when they did open. The line played well today and Greene just seemed to plod behind his blockers, gaining two to three yards before hitting the turf. Powell maximized his opportunities by showing nice footwork ands speed to find his way through holes in the defense. His ability to find creases and hit the holes with crafty footwork was a nice change of pace compared to seemingly cement footed Grenne. Look for Powell to get an increased workload in the upcoming weeks until Greene can prove he deserves the carries.
