NY Jets head coach Robert Saleh met virtually with reporters on Thursday, and when asked about the future of quarterback Mike White, the third-year head coach spoke glowingly of his team's QB.

Saleh noted that the Jets were keeping close tabs on White and that he "should be" on the roster in 2023. It sounds like the Jets are determined to re-sign White, who is set to be an unrestricted free agent, this offseason.

The Jets will almost definitely have two other quarterbacks under contract in 2023: a veteran (Aaron Rodgers, Derek Carr, etc.) and Zach Wilson. Wilson could theoretically be moved, but it only makes sense to do so after June 1st, at least from a financial perspective.

It doesn't seem like a great idea to go into the 2023 season with Wilson as the unquestioned QB2, so bringing back White makes sense. The question remains whether the two sides can agree on a price tag, however.

Other NY Jets news

Joe Douglas provides injury updates

It flew a little under the radar in a slew of takeaways from Jets general manager Joe Douglas' press conference earlier in the week, but Douglas provided updates on a few of the Jets' injured players returning in 2023.

Douglas said that the Jets "feel good" about where the likes of Breece Hall, Alijah Vera-Tucker, and Mekhi Becton are in their recovery. He shared that the plan is for Hall to be ready for the start of the regular season.

As for Vera-Tucker and Becton, there's no reason to expect either won't be ready for the start of training camp in July. Becton might be full-go by the time OTAs begin in the spring.

The Jets seem to be optimistic about their injured stars this offseason. Let's hope that optimism is warranted this time.

Robert Saleh comments on Duane Brown's future

Jets offensive tackle Duane Brown played through a serious shoulder injury for the entirety of the 2022 season after suffering the injury shortly after signing with the team in the summer.

Rather than sit out for the year and collect a paycheck at age 37, Brown opted to play through significant pain. Head coach Robert Saleh couldn't have been more complimentary of Brown's toughness when speaking about him on Thursday.

Saleh called Brown "a freakin' rockstar" and said that 90 percent of players wouldn't have played through the injury. After all, Brown's money was guaranteed either way.

Saleh told reporters that it would be "awesome" if Brown was back with the team in 2023. He's under contract, but the soon-to-be 38-year-old has not made a decision on his NFL future just yet.
