NY Jets running back Breece Hall has remained positive about his recovery time as he continues to rehab the season-ending torn ACL that he suffered back in October.

Hall had previously told reporters a few weeks ago that he expects to be ready for the start of training camp in July, and he posted a video to his Instagram on Monday that seems to suggest that's accurate.

Hall was seen running on some sort of modified treadmill with a caption that read "progress." The former second-round pick insisted he was ahead of schedule when speaking to the media earlier in the month.

The hope remains that Hall will be ready to return by July and that he won't miss any regular-season time. That's would be an optimistic and very quick recovery period, but Hall seems to be ahead of schedule.

Could Jimmy Garoppolo return to San Francisco?

The San Francisco 49ers dealt with a ridiculous amount of poor injury luck at the quarterback position this season, and the cherry on top occurred in Sunday's NFC Championship Game in which Brock Purdy suffered an elbow injury that, more or less, ended his team's season.

It was reported on Monday that Purdy had suffered a torn UCL that's expected to sideline him for up to six months. With Purdy's status for the start of the season in doubt, ESPN's Rich Cimini took to Twitter to speculate about the implications this could have on Jimmy Garoppolo.

Garoppolo is a pending free agent, and to this point, it's been widely expected that he will leave San Francisco in search of a new team this offseason. Could Purdy's injury change plans? Don't count on it.

Even following Purdy's injury, Garoppolo will be looking for a starting job with a new team this offseason. It still wouldn't make sense for the two sides to consider a reunion. This doesn't change anything, despite Cimini's speculation.

Jets cap space

The NFL announced on Monday that the league salary cap for the 2023 season had been set at $224.8 million. That's an increase of $16.6 million from 2022 and a whopping $42.3 million from the COVID-19-adjusted salary cap in 2021.

This means the Jets will officially be roughly $2.8 million over the salary cap at the start of the league year, per Over The Cap. Now, the team can easily create some space via cuts and restructures, but it goes without saying that the Jets likely won't be major players in free agency this offseason.

They'll need to pay a quarterback in some way, but don't expect the team to make nearly as many notable additions as they did last spring.

Players like Carl Lawson, Corey Davis, and Braxton Berrios figure to be on the chopping block, while an extension for Quinnen Williams could also help create cap space in the short term.
