Potential NY Jets quarterback target Aaron Rodgers is in the midst of his so-called darkness retreat as he continues to consider his NFL future, but his current team, the Green Bay Packers, has seemingly already made the decision for him.

Longtime Packers reporter Bob McGinn reported on Friday that the organization is "disgusted" with him and that they're "done with Rodgers." McGinn insisted that the Packers have internally moved on, and if he's somehow brought back in 2023, it won't be as a starter.

Green Bay is ready to hand over the reins of the offense to Jordan Love, regardless of what Rodgers decides. This means he essentially has two options: retire or play for a new team next season.

A departure from Green Bay has seemed likely for months now, but this pretty much confirms it. Aaron Rodgers has likely played his final game with the Packers.

Other NY Jets news

Mike Westhoff is back in the NFL

Longtime Jets special teams coordinator Mike Westhoff is officially back in the NFL, as he's reportedly been hired by the Denver Broncos to serve as their new assistant head coach under Sean Payton.

Westhoff "retired" from coaching following the 2012 season only to resurface five years later as the special teams coordinator of the New Orleans Saints. After two years in New Orleans, Westhoff once again called it quits.

It seems as though the well-traveled NFL veteran is coming out of retirement again, this time to reunite with Payton in Denver. If all goes according to plan, Westhoff could also reunite with Rex Ryan as the former Jets head coach is the favorite for the Broncos' defensive coordinator job.

Ryan and Westhoff coaching again in 2023? Talk about getting the band back together. And yes, the Jets play the Broncos next season.

Derek Carr visits with the Jets

The Jets became the second team to coordinate an official visit with now-free-agent quarterback Derek Carr on Friday. Carr reportedly began his visit with the Jets on Friday night with the visit expected to continue on Saturday.

This marks the first team that Carr has visited with since he became a free agent earlier in the week. He previously visited with the Saints while he was still under contract with the Las Vegas Raiders.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting that Carr is expected to take his time and weigh his options with a potential visit in Carolina still a possibility. The Jets are clearly interested, however.

Aaron Rodgers remains their top option, but if those plans fall through, expect them to pivot to Carr.
