Jimmy Garoppolo has been a hot name in the rumor mill for the NY Jets over the last few months, and on Wednesday, San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed that Garoppolo would not return in 2023.

Shanahan told reporters that he does not envision any scenario in which Garoppolo is on the 49ers' roster next season. This comes following speculation that Garoppolo could stay in San Francisco after Brock Purdy's injury.

However, Garoppolo will be looking for a new home this offseason, and the Jets could be a team that's interested. While the Jets' focus has seemingly shifted to Aaron Rodgers and Derek Carr, Garoppolo does make sense as a fall-back option.

Garoppolo isn't the most likely or appealing target for the Jets right now, but he is a possible choice if things don't go to plan with Rodgers and Carr.

Tom Brady retires...again

Tom Brady officially announced his retirement on Wednesday for the second time in his illustrious career. The famed Mark Sanchez postseason victim retires with a career 30-7 record against the Jets in which he threw for 60 touchdowns and only 16 interceptions.

You'd be hard-pressed to find any player in NFL history that has tormented the Jets more than Brady, although his meager 1-1 record against the team in the playoffs doesn't paint the same picture.

Aside from the sentimental side of things, Brady's retirement does have an impact on the QB market this offseason. Brady retiring creates another quarterback opening in Tampa Bay, which isn't necessarily a good thing for the Jets.

Ultimately, the Jets will certainly be happy that they don't have to square off with Brady ever again. That is, of course, if his retirement is for real this time.

Sauce Gardner believes he can be the best CB in NFL history

Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner was recently asked in an interview with Complex's Zion Olojede if he believes he can be the greatest cornerback in NFL history. The rookie standout responded with an unequivocal "yes."

Gardner emphasized that the most important goal for him in his career was winning a Super Bowl, but he also insisted that he strives to be the best version of himself that he can be.

He spoke about watching film of NFL greats like Deion Sanders and how he was very pleased with his rookie season, but above all else, all he wants to do is win.

"I want to be able to win a Super Bowl. That’s my main goal. That’s the main thing I want to get out of this."

Gardner has never been one to lack confidence, but he's also made it abundantly clear that he isn't nearly as concerned with individual accolades as he is with team accomplishments. He wants to win.
