Many NY Jets fans still hold a grudge against Jamal Adams. His controversial departure from the organization only a few years ago still remains a soft spot for many fans of the franchise.

That's why it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that Jets fans took the first opportunity to troll their former star safety following his lackluster performance on Thursday Night Football last night.

Adams allowed four catches for 48 yards including what would end up being the game-winning touchdown to Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson. He also finished the game with a whopping four missed tackles and a 146.3 passer rating when targeted.

Jets fans took to social media during and immediately after the game to troll the former All-Pro safety.

NY Jets fans still aren't over the Jamal Adams trade

Adams was once one of the most beloved players on the Jets roster and arguably the face of the entire franchise. That was until a contract dispute and a disagreement with the team's regime led to his untimely departure.

The Jets shipped Adams, who was coming off a first-team All-Pro season, to the Seattle Seahawks in a trade that netted the team two first-round draft picks. Those picks would eventually be used to help the team land both Alijah Vera-Tucker and Garrett Wilson.

Meanwhile, Adams has battled injuries and struggled to match the level of production from his Jets days. The LSU product hasn't played more than 12 games in a season since his last year with the Jets, and he's been ranked in the bottom half of safeties by Pro Football Focus each season.

Adams' 60.2 PFF coverage grade in 2023 ranks 51st out of 87 qualified safeties. He ranks bottom-10 among qualifiers in catches allowed and catch percentage allowed. Adams has been a liability in coverage β€”Β there's no way around it.

Meanwhile, although Vera-Tucker has battled his own injury issues, he remains the Jets' best offensive lineman when healthy. As for Wilson, he's a bonafide No. 1 wide receiver and arguably the team's most valuable player on offense.

That trade is now almost unanimously seen as one of the most lopsided in recent NFL history. And Jets fans aren't going to let Adams or the Seahawks forget that anytime soon.

Whenever Jamal Adams struggles on primetime, you'd best believe there will be a hoard of Jets fans ready to fire off their troll posts on social media. The wound is still very much fresh.
