The NY Jets are still in the market for a quarterback following the devastating injury suffered by Aaron Rodgers in Week 1. While the team is reportedly in no rush to sign a QB, they have reached out to a few names.

The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported last week that the Jets have been in contact with two veteran quarterbacks, Chad Henne and Colt McCoy, about joining the team in the near future.

Russini reports that Henne, who retired this offseason, has expressed that he is not interested in returning to the NFL at this time. As for McCoy, he has offers from "several teams" and is weighing his options.

Those are the only two quarterbacks we know the Jets have reached out to at this time. That sure seems to suggest that McCoy is the new favorite to be signed by Gang Green in the near future.

You can also cross a few very notable names off the list of potential quarterback targets. Russini reported that the Jets are not expected to reach out to the likes of Tom Brady, Joe Flacco, Philip Rivers, Blake Bortles, or Ben Roethlisberger.

Brady himself denied any interest in coming out of retirement to play for the Jets on a recent podcast as well. The Jets aren't looking to make a high-profile quarterback addition, at least not right now.

As for McCoy, the 13-year NFL veteran was in line to be the Arizona Cardinals' starting quarterback as of roughly four weeks ago, prior to his surprise release. Russini reports that McCoy has been dealing with an elbow injury but should be fully recovered by now.

While the Jets seem to prefer a quarterback who has history with offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, McCoy has experience in a similar system dating back to his days in Washington under Sean McVay.

McCoy started three games for the Cardinals last season, completing over 68 percent of his passes while throwing one touchdown and three interceptions. He helped lead Arizona to a 27-17 win over the Los Angeles Rams in his first start of the season.

The Jets aren't looking to add a quarterback that would threaten Wilson's starting role right now. Instead, they're hoping to add a stable veteran like McCoy to their quarterback room.

He seems like the odds-on favorite to be the team's preferred addition, provided there's mutual interest.
