The NY Jets lost quarterback Aaron Rodgers for the season (or at least for an extended period of time) last Monday due to a torn Achilles, but despite the injury to their star QB, the team hasn't made a move to replace him just yet.

Zach Wilson, Rodgers' presumed backup entering the 2023 season, started in place of him on Sunday, and the Jets seem intent on sticking with the former No. 2 overall pick for the foreseeable future.

Even with Wilson in the starting lineup, most assumed that the Jets would add a veteran quarterback to serve as his backup. That hasn't happened yet, however. The Jets are in no hurry to add a QB.

CBS Sports' Josina Anderson reported last week that the Jets are "not in a rush" to add a quarterback at the moment. They have reached out to a number of veterans, but they're evidently content with waiting for the time being.

The NY Jets are waiting on veteran QB options

The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported this weekend that the Jets have reached out to two veteran quarterbacks: Chad Henne and Colt McCoy. Henne seems content with his retirement plans while McCoy is weighing his options.

Either way, it's been a week since Rodgers' injury, and the Jets don't appear to be any closer to signing another quarterback. McCoy seems like their most likely target, but the team is waiting for him to make a decision.

The Jets' patience is partially due to their faith in Wilson. Despite a less-than-stellar stat line, Wilson held his own against a dominant Dallas Cowboys defense for three quarters on Sunday. His overall game wasn't good, but there were signs of encouragement.

The Jets are content with Wilson leading the offense for at least a few more weeks. The expectation is that if he struggles, the team could look to make a move to salvage their season by the trade deadline.

Expect the Jets to add a veteran quarterback in the near-ish future, but until that happens, it'll be Zach Wilson and Tim Boyle at QB. The Jets' season rests on the shoulders of Wilson again, for better or worse.
