What's been speculated for quite some time now has finally been made official. The NY Jets will retain head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas and run it back with the same regime in 2024, per team owner Woody Johnson.

Johnson told Brian Costello of the New York Post in an exclusive interview that he's made the decision to bring Saleh and Douglas back for another year.

"My decision is to keep them. I think we’ve had some very positive moves. The culture of the team is a lot better. The defense is better. The offense needs a few pieces."
Woody Johnson

Johnson reiterated his faith in the Jets' regime, insisting that while the offense needs some work, he's encouraged by the culture of the organization and the improvements shown on defense.

This comes one day after NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that the Jets were expected to run it back with Saleh and Douglas next season. Now, Johnson has provided official confirmation.

Rapoport's report also stated that Jets offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett is expected to be back with the team in 2024 as well. Hackett will likely remain Aaron Rodgers' offensive coordinator next season.

The Jets could consider a few minor tweaks to the coaching staff, but there will be no wholesale changes this offseason. Expect pretty much the same regime in 2024.

The Jets seem content chalking the 2023 season up as a lost cause after Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles just four plays into his debut campaign. Their in-season moves (or lack thereof) seem to suggest that was the plan all along.

Essentially, Saleh and Douglas are receiving a mulligan for what has been a wholly disappointing season. Whether that's right or wrong, that appears to be the mindset of Johnson and the Jets' decision-makers.

It'll be Rodgers, Saleh, and Douglas once again calling the shots next season. The Jets aren't making any major changes.
