Following a somewhat difficult rookie season, NY Jets quarterback Zach Wilson is reportedly putting in the work this offseason ahead of what will be an important sophomore year for the young QB.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported on Sunday that Wilson has put on about 6-8 pounds of muscle and is playing closer to 220 pounds now after playing at close to 210 last year.

This is in line with what head coach Robert Saleh said when speaking to the media last week. Saleh indicated that Wilson looked "beefy," but in a good way. ESPN's Rich Cimini went a little more into detail about the work Wilson had been putting in this offseason.

Cimini said that Wilson had been focusing heavily on his diet and that "those close to him say he has become meticulous about what he eats."

"He tried to gain weight in the past, getting as high as 218, but didn't feel comfortable from an athletic standpoint. This time, he took it slow and steady in order to maintain his quickness and loose throwing motion. He didn't divulge his current weight, but the change is apparent to everyone around him."

Not only has Wilson been emphasizing his physical health, but he's also been doing everything he can to get on the same page with his teammates.

As Fowler describes, Wilson has been flying to various parts of the country to work out with teammates. He's met up with Jets teammates in three different states to work out so far this offseason.

Wilson understands how important the 2022 season is to both he and the Jets. After winning just six total games in two years, the Jets can ill-afford another letdown this season.

And for Wilson, he's looking to prove that he's the guy the Jets should build around for the foreseeable future after what most would describe as a disappointing rookie campaign.

The Jets did their best to surround Wilson with a more than adequate supporting cast this offseason. They eliminated the variable and excuses — now it's on Wilson to live up to the hype.

He's doing his part to ensure that he's well prepared.
