The NY Jets went into the offseason with two goals in mind: fix the offensive line and upgrade their wide receiver corps. Now, following the addition of former Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams, they've done both.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting that the Jets have signed Williams to a one-year deal worth a maximum of $15 million. It's unclear how much of that contract is guaranteed, but it's likely his cap hit will be much lower.

Williams was set to visit with as many as three other teams this week including the Carolina Panthers and Pittsburgh Steelers. The Jets, however, made sure that he didn't leave the building without a deal.

The former first-round pick is coming off a torn ACL, but he has multiple 1,000-yard seasons under his belt and should serve as a perfect complement to Garrett Wilson in the Jets' new-look receiving corps.

Jets fans were rampant in their recruitment of Williams, with one notable fan even sending a breakfast sandwich to the team's facility on Tuesday morning to serve as a recruiting gift. The sandwich worked.

Williams joins a Jets' offense that features a revamped offensive line, Garrett Wilson, Breece Hall, Tyler Conklin, and, of course, Aaron Rodgers. That's enough to provide optimism that the Jets could be serious contenders for the Super Bowl in 2024.

The former Clemson star remains one of the best contested-catch receivers in the NFL. Williams dropped just one of his 90 targets in his last full season in 2022 and has never finished with a contested catch rate below 48.3 percent in a season

The Jets could still consider drafting a wide receiver in the first round come next month, but the Williams addition provides them even more flexibility to adopt a "best player available" approach.

The Jets swung for the fences and landed another star wide receiver to pair with Garrett Wilson. They're truly going all in.
