The NY Jets have reportedly agreed to terms on a contract extension with standout defensive end John Franklin-Myers, as first reported by D.J. Bien-Aime of the New York Daily News.

The details of the extension are unknown a the time of writing.

A fourth-round pick of the Los Angeles Rams in the 2018 NFL Draft, Franklin-Myers was claimed off waivers by the Jets prior to the start of the 2019 season.

He spent all of 2019 on the injured reserve before returning in 2020 and developing into a quality starter for the Jets. And he's easily been one of the team's most impactful players in 2021.

Franklin-Myers has racked up three sacks, 17 pressures, and five QB hits in four games so far this season. It's still early, but he's easily been one of the Jets' best players to this point.

The Stephen F. Austin product is one of just two players with 15+ tackles, 3.0+ sacks, and a forced fumble this season. Only four players have recorded more pressures when rushing from the left side of the defensive line (his dominant side).

He's up there with the likes of Maxx Crosby, Joey Bosa, Danielle Hunter, and Jadeveon Clowney in pass-rush efficiency this season and the Jets have rewarded him for his standout performances.

Franklin-Myers entered the 2021 season on the final year of his rookie contract looking for an extension. And after just four games, he impressed the Jets enough to get a deal done.

This is one of the bigger extensions that general manager Joe Douglas has made in his time with the Jets. It will be interesting to see what the figures are once they're released.

The Jets have locked up one of their top standouts from this season. John Franklin-Myers isn't going anywhere.

*Connor Hughes of The Athletic is reporting that the extension is for four years*
