The NY Jets are less than 24 hours away from their Week 1 meeting with the Carolina Panthers. But before the game gets underway, the team had to do a little housekeeping.

The Jets announced on Saturday that they had placed safety Sharrod Neasman on the injured reserve and elevated safety Adrian Colbert and linebacker Del'Shawn Phillips to the active roster ahead of Week 1.

Neasman didn't practice all week after dealing with a hamstring injury and was the only Jets player declared OUT for the season opener. Now, he'll be forced to miss at least the first three weeks of the season as he recovers.

Colbert and Phillips receive a temporary elevation from the practice squad with game-day rosters expanded to 55 players, just as they were last year.

Both players will revert back to the practice squad after the game. Teams are allowed to elevate players twice from the practice squad during the course of a season. After the second time, they will be required to sign them to the active roster if they wish to promote them.

The NY Jets will be without Sharrod Neasman for at least three weeks

Neasman was signed by the Jets in June after five years with the Atlanta Falcons. The veteran safety spent time with new Jets defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich in Atlanta and was expected to play a role on special teams.

The Jets signed former Cleveland Browns fourth-round pick Sheldrick Redwine earlier this month and he, along with Colbert, will serve as the team's backup safeties for this game.

Colbert was signed to the practice squad on Monday after being waived by the New England Patriots as part of final roster cuts. A seventh-round pick of the San Francisco 49ers in the 2017 NFL Draft, Colbert has some starting experience under his belt and has history with Robert Saleh.

Phillips is a somewhat surprise elevation, although with the Jets needing linebacker depth, it makes some sense. A former undrafted free agent, Phillips has spent time with the Falcons and most recently the Buffalo Bills who he even appeared in two games for last season.

The Jets' roster appears set for Week 1. Let the fun begin.
