NY Jets head coach Robert Saleh declared last week that Zach Wilson was the team's QB2, but while Saleh may publicly declare that to be the case, that's not a guarantee. Either way, one thing is clear. Wilson is not the Jets' quarterback of the future.

The Athletic's Zack Rosenblatt reported on Wednesday that the Jets "have moved on from the idea that Wilson is their long-term answer at quarterback." The team may not say it publicly, but Wilson is not a part of their future plans.

Rosenblatt went on to suggest that the Jets would entertain trade offers for the former No. 2 overall pick. However, unless the Jets receive "a surprising trade offer," they're "stuck" with him.

Wilson will likely be on the Jets' roster in 2023. He may even be the backup quarterback (he shouldn't be). But the Jets have given up on his future, even if they won't publicly admit it.

Other NY Jets news

Al Woods leaves Cleveland without a deal

The Jets are one of a few teams interested in signing veteran defensive tackle Al Woods. Woods is supposed to visit with the Jets on Thursday, but before he made his way to Florham Park, the 36-year-old visited with the Cleveland Browns.

Following the Jets' failed pursuit of Fletcher Cox and Calais Campbell, there has understandably some concern about the team's ability to seal the deal. Unlike Campbell, it appears the Jets will actually bring Woods in for a visit.

Woods left Cleveland without a deal on Wednesday and is seemingly headed to Florham Park to meet with the Jets. The Jets can really use a veteran run-stuffing defensive tackle like Woods on their roster.

Here's to hoping they get this one done.

Jets meet with versatile OL prospect

The Jets reportedly met virtually with Old Dominion offensive lineman Nick Saldiveri this week. Saldiveri is a versatile, experienced offensive line prospect with the ability to play all five spots on the offensive line.

It's no secret that the Jets are in search of offensive line help this offseason, and while many expect the team to address the position early in the 2023 NFL Draft, Saldiveri makes sense as a potential late Day 2/early Day 3 target.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Saldiveri have a Patrick Mekari-like career in the NFL as a super versatile fringe starter who provides value as a sixth offensive lineman. The Jets could use someone like that on their roster.
