The NY Jets are preparing for their final game of the season on Sunday, a game that no longer means anything in the grand scheme of the NFL playoff picture. Nonetheless, the Jets do expect to have their starting quarterback.

Head coach Robert Saleh spoke to reporters on Monday and said that Mike White was dealing with some rib soreness but nothing that was expected to keep him sidelined for this Sunday's game.

White started in Week 17 and played the whole game, although his results on the field were less than stellar. He managed to play through injury and it seems likely that he might do the same again in Week 18.

Of course, the Jets haven't come out and confirmed that White will be the starter this Sunday. It's possible the team turns back to Zach Wilson or even Chris Streveler, but the safe money is on White.

White will be healthy for Week 18, and the assumption is that he starts.

Other NY Jets news

One Jets player is a top donor to Damar Hamlin's foundation

The NFL world was shaken to its core on Monday night following the tragic events that unfolded with Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin. But at least one positive development has emerged from this tragedy.

Hamlin's toy drive foundation, originally set up in 2020 with an initial goal of $2,500, has reached nearly $6 million in donations at the time of writing. One Jets player was listed among the foundation's top donors on the official GoFundMe page.

Jets defensive lineman Solomon Thomas was among the many notable NFL players to donate along with the likes of Tom Brady, Russell Wilson, Matthew Stafford, Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle, Trey Lance, and many others.

Here is a link to donate to Hamlin's GoFundMe page if you are interested and have the means.

Lamarcus Joyner is out for the season

Jets safety Lamarcus Joyner will not play in the final game of the season after re-injuring his hip this past Sunday, per Robert Saleh. Joyner exited the game after just 12 snaps and was replaced by rookie Tony Adams.

The nine-year NFL veteran struggled mightily in Week 17 and has had a difficult 2022 season. It seems likely that we've seen the last of Joyner with the Jets.

Saleh told reporters that the team is excited to get an extended look at Adams this weekend. The undrafted rookie will be presented with a golden opportunity to make a strong impression heading into next season.

Although, as we saw with Jason Pinnock this summer, impressive late-season performances from rookie safeties don't necessarily result in increased job security.
