There's been a ton of smoke around the NY Jets and Aaron Rodgers in recent weeks, but a new/old name is starting to emerge as a potential contender to be the team's starting quarterback in 2023.

The Jets' odds to land Jimmy Garoppolo this offseason have risen to +300 in the latest odds from Bookies.com. Only the Las Vegas Raiders at +225 have better odds to acquire Garoppolo.

It seems as though both the Jets and Raiders will be the top contenders for Rodgers, and whichever team fails to trade for him might resort to Garoppolo as a fall-back option.

Derek Carr is still in the picture for the Jets, but the sense that many have gotten is that the organization prefers Rodgers and Garoppolo over Carr. Rodgers is Plan A. Garoppolo is emerging as a very possible Plan B.

Jets coach interviewing for Texans DC job

The Jets have already experienced some turnover with their coaching staff this offseason, and it might continue. The Houston Texans are reportedly set to interview Jets safeties coach Marquand Manuel for their vacant defensive coordinator position.

Manuel reportedly drew interest from the Carolina Panthers for their defensive coordinator job before the team hired Ejiro Evero on Sunday. The former NFL safety has defensive coordinator experience, having served as the DC of the Atlanta Falcons from 2017-2018.

While the Jets' safeties underachieved in 2022, Manuel is well-respected around the league and it's no surprise to see him garnering interest from teams.

Assistant defensive line coach Greg Scruggs already left for a promotion this offseason. Manuel might be the team's second defensive assistant to join him.

Jets Pro Bowlers surprise Johnny

It's been a long, long time since Johnny got his ice cream. Everyone's favorite kid reporter was promised ice cream every time the Jets won a game this season. Early in the year, that deal was certainly paying dividends.

Johnny ate ice cream in seven of the Jets' first 11 games. Unfortunately for Johnny, the Jets went on a six-game losing streak to end their season, and in the process, they inadvertently put Johnny on a diet.

But this story has a happy ending for lovers of ice cream. The Jets' four Pro Bowlers — Quinnen Williams, Sauce Gardner, C.J. Mosley, and Justin Hardee — surprised Johnny at his famed ice cream truck.

This time, however, it was Johnny who was serving ice cream to the players. It was a token of gratitude and appreciation for all of their efforts this season.

Here's to hoping there's more ice cream in Johnny's future, as well as more Jets Pro Bowlers to feed, next season
