The NY Jets remain in a holding pattern as it pertains to the eventual Aaron Rodgers trade. Everyone seems to be aware that a trade is going to happen — it's just a matter of when.

ESPN's Dianna Russini provided the latest update on the Rodgers saga on Thursday, indicating that the Green Bay Packers seem determined to get a deal done before the start of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Russini suggested that the "deal is getting closer and closer" and that the Packers "want to add weapons for their young quarterback." Acquiring 2023 draft capital is imperative for that to happen.

If all goes according to plan, the Jets and Packers should have a deal done within the next three weeks. The end might be in sight.

Other NY Jets news

Jets might sign another veteran defensive tackle

The Jets finally landed their defensive tackle signing on Thursday, adding former Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman Quinton Jefferson. This comes after the Jets missed on the likes of Fletcher Cox and Calais Campbell earlier in the offseason.

The team might be looking to double up at the position too. Even after signing Jefferson, it appears as though the Jets remain interested in signing Al Woods, with the team reportedly bringing him in for a visit this week.

Per SNY's Connor Hughes, not only are the Jets still interested in Woods, but they also might have some interest in signing A'Shawn Robinson. It's clear the Jets are looking to add a true early-down run-stuffer to their roster.

The Jets aren't done exploring the defensive tackle market. Don't be surprised if they make another addition, even after signing Jefferson.

Tyreek Hill plans to retire after contract expires

The Jets nearly traded for Tyreek Hill last offseason, and despite how good he might be, they may have dodged a bullet. Hill is still one of the best wide receivers in football, but he doesn't expect that to be the case for much longer.

The seven-time Pro Bowler revealed during a recent appearance on Sports Radio 810 WHB that he plans to retire once his current contract expires in 2025. That means the Miami Dolphins wide receiver has just three years remaining in his NFL career.

With Hill out of the equation, the Jets turned their attention to the 2023 NFL Draft, where they went on to draft Ohio State's Garrett Wilson. Wilson put together a historic rookie season that earned him Offensive Rookie of the Year honors.

Wilson may not be Hill right now, but the Jets certainly hope he'll be sticking around in Florham Park for longer than three years.
