The NY Jets added some Sauce to their defense at pick No. 4. Six picks later, they added a new weapon to their offensive arsenal in the form of Ohio State wide receiver Garrett Wilson.

The Jets had been linked to many of the top wide receivers in the 2022 NFL Draft in the weeks leading up to the draft and Wilson was among those most closely connected to the organization.

Even with edge rusher Jermaine Johnson still on the board, the Jets made the decision to add a new toy for quarterback Zach Wilson. That Wilson-to-Wilson connection is going to hit different.

At 21-years-old, Wilson is tailor-made for this Jets offense and helps complete a wide receiver room that suddenly looks very promising.

Garrett Wilson is another exciting pick for the NY Jets

A two-year starter at Ohio State, Wilson emerged onto the scene as a sophomore in 2020 earning first-team All-Big Ten honors after finishing with 43 catches for 723 yards and six touchdowns in eight games.

It wasn't until 2021 that Wilson broke out as one of the best receivers in football, however. The Texas native hauled in 70 catches for 1,058 yards and 12 touchdowns en route to being named first-team All-American.

Wilson has true inside/outside versatility and is a perfect fit for Mike LaFleur's offense. He's an excellent athlete who makes a living with the ball in his hands.

Wilson forced a missed tackle on nearly 30 percent of catches in 2021 ranking second-best in this draft class just behind Western Michigan's Skyy Moore. He plays bigger than his 5-foot-11 frame too and has the body control and ball skills to consistently haul in contested catches.

The Jets were eyeing a wide receiver this offseason, and after missing out on a trade for a number of top receivers, they resorted to the draft. Garrett Wilson was their guy.
