The NY Jets haven't exactly interviewed the most respected and enticing candidates for their vacant offensive coordinator position, but one well-known coach seems to have caught their eye.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported on Friday that the Jets "could talk with Frank Reich," depending on how his head coach interviews go. Reich has reportedly interviewed with both the Carolina Panthers and Arizona Cardinals for their head coach jobs.

If Reich doesn't get either of those jobs, it seems as though the Jets are hoping to reach out and interview him for their offensive coordinator position. That might be easier said than done, but it's certainly worth a shot.

Reich was fired as the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts after a disappointing 3-5-1 start to the 2022 season, although his departure was seen as somewhat of a misstep from the Colts' organization.

Arguably the hottest name in this year's coaching cycle, even landing an interview with Reich would be a coup for the Jets at this stage.

Frank Reich would be a no-brainer, home-run hire for the NY Jets

Reich has over 15 years of coaching experience at the NFL, has found considerable success as an offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, and helped lead the Colts to three winning records in four full seasons as the team's head coach.

Amidst interviews with the likes of New England Patriots tight ends coach and Cleveland Browns wide receivers coach Chad O'Shea, Reich would stick out like a sore thumb as an obvious choice for Gang Green.

The issue is going to be convincing Reich to take the interview. Even if Reich is unable to secure a head coach job, it's far from a guarantee that he would be interested in interviewing with the Jets.

The likes of Darrell Bevell and Bill Callahan have already rejected the Jets' request for interviews. If the Jets can't even get guys like Bevell and Callahan to interview, it seems unlikely that Reich shows interest.

But every coach is different, and the Jets certainly don't lose anything by making an offer. It's absolutely a good thing — even if it's rather obvious — that they're interested in interviewing him.

Don't get your hopes up about Frank Reich joining the Jets, but know that the team is interested. They're exploring all of their options.
