The NY Jets have suffered a string of injuries at the linebacker position this season, but they could be on the verge of receiving some important reinforcements.

Starting linebackers C.J. Mosley and Jarrad Davis are both expected to return to the lineup in the near future with the former seeming like a near-lock to play this Sunday, barring any setbacks.

Mosley was held out of the Jets' Week 7 game against the New England Patriots with a hamstring injury. The veteran linebacker was a full participant in Wednesday's practice and the Jets expect him to play on Sunday.

As for Davis, he was designated to return from the injured reserve, along with punter Braden Mann and defensive end Kyle Phillips, opening up a 21-day window for him to be activated to the 53-man roster.

Head coach Robert Saleh said that the Jets will monitor Davis' status this week to determine if he can play on Sunday. There's at least a chance that Davis plays this weekend against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The NY Jets should see the returns of C.J. Mosley and Jarrad Davis in the near future

Davis has been sidelined since Week 2 of the preseason when he suffered an ankle injury. The Jets placed him on the injured reserve to start the season knocking him out for at least the first three weeks.

His injury has kept him out a little longer than most expected, but the Jets are certainly hoping he could return sooner rather than later now.

With Mosley out, the Jets were forced to start rookie Jamien Sherwood alongside Quincy Williams in Week 7. Both players, along with top backup Blake Cashman, suffered injuries in the game decimating the team's linebacker depth.

Sherwood suffered a torn Achilles and will miss the remainder of the season while Cashman also landed on IR with a groin injury. Williams was held out of practice with a concussion on Wednesday and seems unlikely to play in Week 8.

That leaves the Jets with Del'Shawn Phillips as the only healthy linebacker remaining on the active roster. There's also Noah Dawkins, who was elevated from the practice squad last week.

Mosley's return will provide a massive boost to the Jets' defense, and that would be especially true if Davis could make his Jets debut alongside him.

C.J. Mosley seems good to go. As for Jarrad Davis, his status is worth monitoring as the week goes on.
