The NY Jets made four roster moves to get to the 85-player roster limit on Tuesday.

The team announced that they had released running back Austin Walter, safety Bennett Jackson, and defensive tackle Michael Dwumfour. They also placed offensive lineman Cameron Clark on the injured reserve.

Teams were required to cut their roster down to 85 players by 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday. Rosters will be trimmed to 80 players by August 24th with final cutdown day coming on August 31st when rosters will be reduced to 53 players.

The Jets made their first cut on Monday when they waived kicker Chris Naggar after a shaky performance in the team's first preseason game. About an hour before Tuesday's deadline, they made their final four roster moves.

The NY Jets will be without Cameron Clark for the 2021 season.

The most notable move here is the placement of Clark on the IR. A fourth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Clark was seriously injured in practice two weeks ago and had to be taken away in an ambulance.

While Clark seemingly avoided any long-term damage, his injury will still keep him sidelined for the entire 2021 season. A player is not eligible to return from preseason injured reserve at any point during the season.

Walter was claimed off waivers from the San Francisco 49ers in May and had a strong camp. However, he had a tough showing in Saturday's preseason game and the Jets have a crowded backfield.

Jackson has been with the Jets since the 2019 season and has appeared in six games over that time with the team. He played exclusively on special teams in 2020 playing 48 special-teams snaps in four games.

Dwumfour was signed this May as an undrafted free agent out of Rutgers. The local product played well in Saturday's preseason game but exited early with an injury.

The Jets have a deep defensive line and likely didn't see room for Dwumfour on the roster, especially with his injury.

No surprises with these roster cuts, although it's definitely a shame to see Clark's sophomore season come to an early end.
