NY Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers exited in the first quarter of the NY Jets' Week 1 game against the Buffalo Bills with an apparent leg injury. The initial fear is that he suffered a torn Achilles.

Renowned football doctor David J. Chao is reporting that there is "significant worry for [a] left Achilles tendon tear" after Rodgers was carted to the locker room. The four-time MVP was spotted with a boot on his left foot shortly after.

The Jets quickly announced that Rodgers had been ruled out with an ankle injury and that X-rays were negative. Unfortunately, a broken ankle might be the least of their concerns.

Of course, we should wait for any official confirmation before making any declarative statements, but Chao has been right more than he's been wrong. There is serious concern that Rodgers suffered a season-ending torn Achilles.

What's the latest on the Aaron Rodgers injury?

The Jets acquired Rodgers in a trade this offseason with the hope that the 10-time Pro Bowler would establish the team as legitimate Super Bowl contenders. They were seen as one of the best teams in a loaded AFC with their new Hall of Fame quarterback under center.

Everything changes if he's forced to miss any significant amount of time. Rodgers is still widely seen as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. His backup, Zach Wilson, not so much.

Wilson is coming off a disastrous second season in the NFL, in which he finished with six touchdowns and seven interceptions. The Jets traded for Rodgers with the expectation that he would be Wilson's replacement.

Now, who knows what's going to happen.

The Jets are holding their breath that Rodgers' injury isn't as serious as many fear. All they can do now is wait. Here's to hoping for the best.
