Mock draft season is in full swing, and the NY Jets have been connected to a number of different prospects over the last few weeks. From highly-touted offensive linemen to dynamic wide receiver prospects, the Jets will have an opportunity to add an instant-impact contributor this spring.

One name has seemingly emerged as the most common mock draft projection for the Jets in recent days. It's not Joe Alt. It's not Olu Fashanu. It's Washington wide receiver Rome Odunze.

Three different mock drafts published by major NFL Draft outlets over the last week all have the Jets selecting Odunze with the 10th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. That includes FanSided's Lou Scataglia, CBS Sports' Chris Trapasso, and Pro Football Network's A.J. Schulte.

Odunze is widely seen as one of the top wide receiver prospects in this year's draft, and with the Jets desperately in need of receiver help this offseason, it's easy to make the connection between the two.

Rome Odunze makes a ton of sense as a NY Jets draft target

Two of these three mock drafts have both Alt and Fashanu off the board before the Jets pick. All three of them have Georgia's Brock Bowers and LSU's Malik Nabers coming off the board prior to the Jets' selection.

If the top two offensive tackles are taken already and the Jets don't value the other tackles in the class as highly, it might make sense to pivot to Odunze or another top receiver prospect.

The 21-year-old was a key piece in Washington's high-powered offense this past season and a large reason why the Huskies made it to the College Football Playoff National Championship.

Odunze led the country with 1,640 yards and 13 touchdowns on 92 catches this past season. He's drawn comparisons to the likes of Larry Fitzgerald and Justin Jefferson for his crisp route-running and dynamic playmaking ability.

Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson has already made it clear that he'd love Odunze in Florham Park, taking to social media earlier this month to recruit the 2023 Consensus All-American.

If the Jets are able to make some offensive line additions prior to the draft, that could open an opportunity for the team to target a player like Odunze in the first round.

We're still three months away from the start of the 2024 NFL Draft, but Rome Odunze seems like one of the most likely targets for the Jets at this stage.
