It's safe to say that NY Jets fans don't look back fondly at either Le'Veon Bell or Adam Gase's stints with the organization. Both players are representative of a dark era for the franchise, one the current regime has worked hard to put in the past.

But every once in a while, it can be interesting to reminisce on the bad days. That's exactly what Bell decided to do last week when he went on a mini rant of sorts on social media about his time playing under Gase.

Bell didn't hold back with his direct shots at Gase on social media, criticizing his former head coach's play-calling, game-planning, and overall mindset. As Bell put it, Gase "truly thought....different."

The unprompted posting spree started with a thought Bell had on Thursday about Gase's questionable play-calling in 2nd-and-10 situations. Bell's many tweets about Gase from the last few days can be seen below.

Le'Veon Bell went scorched earth on former NY Jets head coach Adam Gase

Bell called out Gase for his overreliance on calling halfback dives out of the shotgun on 2nd-and-10. Gase's rationale was apparently, according to Bell, that he wanted to gain three yards for a "third-and-manageable" situation.

Of course, this game plan rarely worked. As NFL analyst Brett Kollmann pointed out, the Jets ran the ball on 2nd-and-10 the second-most among all teams while Bell was in New York. The Jets gained an average of 0.5 yards per attempt on each of those runs — a far cry from the three yards Gase was looking for.

Bell later teased some insight into Gase's seemingly puzzling strategies for rain games, and while the former All-Pro running back didn't go into detail, he made it clear that Gase "thought....different."

Bell wasn't alone in his criticism, either. Former Jets offensive tackle Mekhi Becton joined in on the fun, seemingly agreeing with Bell's assertion about Gase and rain games.

Gase and Bell notably had their share of disagreements during the latter's short-lived and tumultuous stint with the Jets. Bell has not been shy about his criticism of Gase, remarking in 2021 that opponents knew exactly what the Jets' play calls would be when Gase was coaching the offense.

There's no denying that the Gase-led Jets were putrid, and Bell's criticisms are likely valid. That said, it's not as if Bell did the Jets any favors during his time with the organization. Both were disastrous independent of one another.

The Jets are hoping to finally see a competent offense again in 2024 with Aaron Rodgers under center. While this year's offense may not be the "Greatest Show on Turf," it's hard to imagine them being any worse than Gase's offense — or even last season.
