The NY Jets and Haason Reddick remain at a standstill as the former All-Pro pass rusher continues his holdout from training camp. Reddick has now missed 14 consecutive days of camp in search of a new contract from a Jets team that seems hesitant to negotiate at this time.

The Jets don't want to negotiate with Reddick unless he shows up to the team's facilities, but Reddick isn't interested in reporting to camp without a new deal. Thus, we have a standoff and a contract holdout.

It's in the best interest of both sides to work out a compromise as soon as possible, especially when it comes to Reddick. The two-time Pro Bowler is losing money in the form of unwaivable fines every day he doesn't show up.

The Jets fined Reddick for missing mandatory minicamp and have fined him $50,000 every day for his absence during training camp. Those fines continue to add up.

Reddick was fined a mandatory $100,000 for missing minicamp in June. His fines for missing training camp are now up to $550,000 as of Monday, August 5. The Jets are also able to fine him an additional $300,000, which head coach Robert Saleh suggested they would.

That brings Reddick's total fines accumulated to this point up to a whopping $950,000 at the time of writing. That's not an insignificant amount of money.

When will the NY Jets resolve the Haason Reddick situation?

Most assumed that the Reddick situation would have been resolved before the start of training camp. The Jets want to avoid any unnecessary distractions in a season in which they have legitimate Super Bowl aspirations.

It's also not a great look to have your prized offseason addition missing from training camp, especially when the whole reason you were able to trade for him was because of his desire for a new contract. The optics aren't great.

From Reddick's perspective, on top of the extensive fines he's been subject to, he's not going to get paid unless he plays. His goal should be to return to the football field as soon as possible, especially since he joined a new organization this summer. There's always an acclimation process.

The Jets and Reddick both want the same thing here: they want this situation to be resolved. While Reddick is unlikely to receive the long-term extension he desires this summer, the two sides should be able to work something out before long.

Reddick continues to lose money each day he misses practice. Eventually, he and the Jets will reach a compromise.
