The NY Jets have high hopes for their new quarterback/wide receiver duo of Aaron Rodgers and Garrett Wilson in 2023. Following a standout rookie season, Wilson is looking to take his game to new heights this season, thanks in part to a sizable upgrade at the quarterback position.

The early signs have been very promising, not just from Rodgers, but more specifically from Wilson.

The Jets saw a number of players improve their stock during OTAs this spring, but perhaps no player shined brighter than the reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year. Wilson was very likely the best player on the field for the Jets this spring.

Don't take my word for it, though. Take it from The Athletic's Zack Rosenblatt, who proclaimed that "Wilson looked like the Jets’ best player during OTAs." Or maybe take it from ESPN's Rich Cimini, who said the same thing.

It's safe to say that Wilson made quite the impression this spring.

NY Jets WR Garrett Wilson could be primed for a monster season

The Jets believed that Wilson could eventually develop into a true No. 1 receiver when they drafted him 10th overall, but few could have expected him to hit the ground running as quickly as he did.

Wilson almost immediately established himself as the top weapon in the Jets' passing game, finishing the year with a franchise rookie record 83 catches for 1,103 yards and four touchdowns. Mind you, this was despite being saddled with the worst quarterback play in the NFL.

It's this reason why many believe Wilson could be primed for a monster sophomore season. Instead of the likes of Zach Wilson, Mike White, and Joe Flacco throwing to him, Wilson will now be catching passes from one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.

Their chemistry is already beginning to shine through. Rodgers and Wilson showed flashes of their potential together this spring, and it became apparent that Rodgers already trusts his new WR1.

On one play during the team's final OTA practice, Rodgers looked one way for 95 percent of the play, only to turn to his left and fire a strike to Wilson on the sideline. Rodgers simply trusted that Wilson would be open — and he was.

The Jets believe the Rodgers/Wilson duo could prove to be one of the most dynamic and daunting QB/WR tandems in the NFL. They certainly have to be encouraged by what they saw this spring.

If Garrett Wilson's performance at OTAs is any indicator, the Jets may have something special brewing at Florham Park.
