The NY Jets are less than a week away from the start of the 2022 NFL Draft, but one non-draft-related story continues to dominate headlines. That story is a potential blockbuster trade involving Deebo Samuel.
The San Francisco 49ers' star wide receiver has been the center of trade talks over the last couple of weeks and has reportedly requested a trade from the organization.
At the time of writing, the 49ers don't seem to have any plans to actually trade him. But as we've seen at various points throughout the offseason, things can change in an instant.
No one thought Tyreek Hill was going to be traded some 24 hours before he was. The same was true for Davante Adams. This offseason has proved that anything can happen in the NFL.
Samuel wants out, and if the 49ers do make him available, he will certainly have no shortage of potential suitors. The Jets will likely be chief among those interested, but what would they be willing to give up?
That's really the million-dollar question. If the Jets are going to trade for Samuel, the 49ers are going to have to lower their asking price. General manager Joe Douglas isn't paying a Jamal Adams-like premium to acquire his star receiver.
What would he offer, though? Let's take a look at three realistic trade packages the Jets could offer for Deebo Samuel.

1. NY Jets offer the Tyreek Hill trade package for Deebo Samuel
Any trade package the Jets are willing to offer for a wide receiver this offseason has to begin with the proposal they extended to the Kansas City Chiefs for Tyreek Hill.
The Jets reportedly had an offer on the table for Hill that included both of their second-round picks (35 and 38) as well as their third-round pick (69). The Chiefs accepted that deal.
Of course, Hill ultimately chose to join the Miami Dolphins instead for a similar package, but the Jets know that this offer was enough to land arguably a top-three wide receiver in football.
The Jets seem to be very hesitant to move either of their first-round picks — and that makes sense. If they could land Hill without giving up one of those top-10 picks, why should they offer more for another receiver?
This trade package is still incredibly valuable too. It's not as if they're not offering the equivalent of a first-round pick. Using the standard Jimmy Johnson trade chart, this package is worth the equivalent of that 10th overall pick. In fact, it's slightly more valuable.
As for the 49ers, right now, it doesn't sound like they're prepared to accept such an offer. But again, things can change in a hurry. Samuel remains dead set on never playing for the 49ers again, and there's no guarantee an offer like this will be on the table post-draft.
This is a trade the Jets would very likely do, and one the 49ers might eventually have to warm up to.

2. NY Jets go the extra mile for Deebo Samuel
What if Joe Douglas wants to go the extra mile? What if he is so determined to land the Jets a star wide receiver that he offers more than he originally intended to? That's what this offer explores.
Right now, all reports suggest the Jets do not plan to move either of their first-round picks. Again, that makes sense given that they didn't need to do so to trade for Tyreek Hill.
But is Douglas willing to die on the hill of principle or is he willing to be aggressive, even at the expense of his innate roster-building philosophy? That's the question he has to ask himself.
The Jets have promised to be aggressive this offseason. Even just this past week Douglas insisted that the team would be aggressive if the "right opportunity" presented itself.
This is that opportunity. The Jets haven't exactly been shy about their pursuit of a wide receiver this offseason. From their attempts to land Calvin Ridley, Amari Cooper, and Tyreek Hill to their heavy scouting of the 2022 draft class, it's evident that the Jets plan to add a big-name receiver.
But how aggressive are they willing to be? In this scenario, they send San Francisco the 10th overall pick as well as a swap of fourth-round picks. The equivalent value is roughly the same as the first trade package.
Surely the 49ers would love to pick as high as 10th given that they don't select until the 61st overall pick right now. They might be more willing to accept this proposal.
The Jets, however, would be offering more than they initially intended. Joe Douglas would have a very interesting decision to make.

3. NY Jets throw in a player for Deebo Samuel
I really wanted to try and explore a trade package that included offensive tackle Mekhi Becton. It's not that the Jets are looking to trade him (nor should they be), but he is someone of value who could feasibly be moved.
However, the 49ers are pretty set at tackle with Trent Williams and Mike McGlinchey. Instead, we went with a different, much less valuable, player in wide receiver Denzel Mims.
This is essentially the Tyreek Hill proposal with a little extra incentive. The 49ers would be trading away one of the cornerstones of their offense, and while Mims doesn't come close to filling the hole that Samuel would leave, he could be a worthy flyer.
This would be a best-case scenario for the Jets. They manage to land their star receiver in Samuel for essentially the price of the Hill offer. In return, they also send Mims to San Francisco where he can look to salvage his career.
Just as a token of appreciation, the 49ers send the last pick in the entire 2022 NFL Draft to the Jets giving them the opportunity to select just their second Mr. Irrelevant in franchise history.
Mims has been putting in work this offseason and faces a crucial summer with the Jets where he will undoubtedly be fighting for a roster spot. In reality, though, he probably just needs a fresh start.
He can get that fresh start in San Francisco as a little bit of a sweetener in the Jets' trade for Deebo Samuel. This is just a variation of that first proposal, but perhaps the addition of Mims gives this package a little more long-term upside for the 49ers.
