NY Jets’ head coach Adam Gase’s job might be in jeopardy this week, according to a report.

NY Jets‘ head coach Adam Gase has been scrutinized since pretty much the day he was hired back in January of 2019. A controversial coaching hire, to say the least, many fans already deemed him a failure from the moment he signed the dotted line to join the organization.

And in reality, it’s hard to blame those fans given Gase’s spotty track record.

Gase has received his fair share of flack this season following an embarrassing 0-2 start where the Jets have looked lifeless and incompetent on the gridiron. This has, of course, led many to speculate about the status of his job with the franchise.

In some news that will surely make Jets fans excited, Gase might not be long for his position.

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported on Sunday that Jets brass would be closely monitoring today’s game against the Indianapolis Colts as they look to further evaluate Gase.

His exact words were as followed.

“Jets coach Adam Gase is under more intense scrutiny this week and it’s not just the external noise from media or fans. League sources say even w/ injuries, Jets’ brass monitoring this week closely, today vs. Colts but perhaps more telling is TNF vs. Broncos. Interesting watch.”

NY Jets’ head coach Adam Gase is officially on the hot seat.

Gase has been the subject of said “intense scrutiny” from fans and media members alike this season, but it seems as though the Jets’ ownership has finally taken notice now.

Adam Gase is firmly on the hot seat. And there’s no guarantee he survives this week, let alone this Thursday’s game against the Denver Broncos.

As Mortensen mentioned, the Jets have suffered a near-unprecedented string of injuries this season, particularly at the wide receiver position. The result has left an already-awful wide receiver corps downright unwatchable.

That isn’t necessarily Gase’s fault, but it’s hard to look at the state of the team and think that they shouldn’t be playing better than they are right now.

No NFL team should look as inept as the Jets have looked through two weeks, regardless of how poor the roster may be. That falls on Gase and it seems as though Christopher Johnson may finally be getting the memo.

If Gase and the Jets continue to struggle, Johnson might not wait until the bye week or even the end of the season to make a change.

That change could come this week. Stay tuned.
