Need a funny fantasy football team name heading into the upcoming season? Here are the top 25 to consider when finalizing a team name to ensure you’re the talk of the league.

It’s about that time! Every year just before the start of the regular season, millions of fantasy football fans make leagues for the action that awaits. Whether you play for fun, money, or even trophies, it promises to be another fun football year.

Of course, regardless if you play with family, friends, or even co-workers, one of the best moments is the final decision on your fantasy football team name. Most of the time, a name can be unique, a play on words, or just flat out hilarious.

Over the years, one of the biggest parts of playing fantasy football comes down to the team names and icons. So even if you want to call your team Upper Decker since you’re excited for Eric Decker’s new journey with the Tennessee Titans, get ready to have your fellow members look at you funny.

Without further ado, here are the top 25 funny team names to use in your fantasy football leagues heading into 2017.

Next: 25. Upper Decker

25. Upper Decker

Since I already gave this one away just a few moments ago, let’s begin with this one. Eric Decker has made a name for himself as a popular slot wide receiver in almost every offense he’s been a part of. Even when he started out in the NFL with the Denver Broncos, he was always able to help make key first downs and haul in touchdowns as a reliable No. 3 receiving option.

With a good tenure on the New York Jets the past few years and now as a member of the Tennessee Titans, Decker is ready to bounce back from a recent string of injuries. For all your fantasy football owners out there that enjoy everything he brings to the table, “Upper Decker” is a great name for you.

It reminds many of all those times when you went to a sporting event and had to sit all the way up in the upper deck. That, or for all you football card collecting enthusiasts out there, it’s also a play on the popular company, Upper Deck.

Either way, it’s a win-win situation here if you go with this as your fantasy team name. Just remember, Decker scored a really high Wonderlic score of 43 back in 2010, so this would also be considered a smart name as well.

Next: 24. Game of Jones

24. Game of Jones

Even if you don’t watch the highly acclaimed HBO phenomenon known as Game of Thrones, it’s made such a huge impact in culture, it’s pretty surreal. Of course, merging that with the football world and well, it’s easy to come up with this one as it gained popularity last fantasy season.

“Game of Jones” pays homage to the television series with wide receiver Julio Jones. It’s a shame what happened to the Atlanta Falcons in the Super Bowl since I’m sure Jones would have enjoyed a championship ring while sitting on that infamous throne.

Jones put up another big year for the Falcons but unfortunately, when it mattered most, the team didn’t stay focused against the New England Patriots. Tom Brady did Brady-like things and now, all Jones can do is sit back and plot his next moves on the throne to get back into the spotlight.

Hopefully, he won’t lose any swords or even dragon eggs like he does earrings. The truth of the matter is, he probably should hire someone just to hold them when not in use.

Next: 23. Junior Bacon Roethlisberger

23. Junior Bacon Roethlisberger

For those of you who love Wendy’s, let me tell you, their junior bacon cheeseburgers are life. If you fire some up with fries and a cold soft drink, they pair up rather well in the company of others while watching football.

For all you fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers out there, it was easy to come up with this team name. “Junior Bacon Roethlisberger” could be immensely popular by the time Week 1 arrives since quarterback Ben Roethlisberger continues to do amazing things on the gridiron.

Not only could this very well be the last season Roethlisberger suits up for due to his itch to finally call it a career and retire, but if he takes the Steelers all the way to the big game and wins, this will be one popular fantasy team name.

Remember, don’t use a Terrible Towel as a napkin or anything of the sort when actually eating those delicious junior bacon cheeseburgers from Wendy’s. You’re just asking for problems from the Steel City faithful.

Next: 22. Belichick's Snapface

22. Belichick’s Snapface

The head coach with the most unusual smile, if you can even call it that, makes for one awesome fantasy team name. That’s right, head coach of the New England Patriots, Bill Belichick, can’t stand when the spotlight is on him.

Whether it involves questions about PSI, if he’d ever replace Brady during a slump, or what he thinks about any team on the regular season schedule, you’ll get mumbling and one incredibly serious face for every answer.

Using the team name “Belichick’s Snapface” is an omen to that time last season where he let reporters know he doesn’t care about social media, especially Snapchat or as he referred to it, Snapface.

Sometimes social media can get players in trouble, hence why he doesn’t like such technology since it brings more harm than good. Stay away from the Snapface.

21. Every kiss begins with Clay

It’s no secret that linebacker Clay Matthews is quite popular not only with the Green Bay Packers but has done many commercials and even movies that revolve around his looks and well, hair. For you females out there that love fantasy football and also Clay, this name is perfect for you.

“Every kiss begins with Clay” pays homage to the popular slogan for Kay Jewelers who are celebrating their 100 years in business. To date, Matthews has surpassed over 300 tackles in his career and is entering his ninth year in the NFL.

Does this also mean you should also consider drafting or even picking up the defense of the Packers for your fantasy league this season? Well, no, to be honest. Matthews used to be one of the top linebackers in the league but is getting up there in age.

The defense in general for the Packers leaves much to the imagination but hey, this is a clever name around one of their more popular players. This team name will bring many laughs all season long, especially if you’re No. 1 in your league and take down even the biggest of foes.

Next: 20. A Chicken Cutler

20. A Chicken Cutler

Jay Cutler is back and well, memes are already surfacing across the internet since he decided to come out of retirement to play for the Miami Dolphins. One can only imagine all the future memes and ridicule that await but hey, the Dolphins are hoping he can do just enough to produce playoff-contending results.

“A Chicken Cutler” pays homage to the classic chicken cutlet sandwich that if you love deli-style kind of lunches, one can never go wrong with it. Considering that Cutler is out of football shape and believes his arm is more than enough to head to the Super Bowl, it will be amazing to see how this upcoming season unfolds for the Dolphins.

Will Cutler bring results right off the bat? It’s hard to say since his career has been defined by a lack of leadership, the inability to deliver in clutch situations, and well, a lackluster personality that doesn’t exactly rally those around him.

It’s hard seeing fantasy football owners using a name like this unless they really love the Dolphins or are in the 1 percent of the minority that believes Cutler will magically come in and take care of business. Either way, save some space on your portable devices for all the new future Cutler memes that await in 2017.

Next: 19. Forte Shades of Grey

19. Forte Shades of Grey

A classic fantasy football name here as “Forte Shades of Grey” should resonate well for those that love the books and movies around “Fifty Shades of Grey” franchise. Of course, you might want to wear a mask if you’re seriously considering watching any football game this season that features the New York Jets.

Running back Matt Forte is towards the end of his career but is hoping to put up a season worth mentioning. In his first year with the Jets in 2016, Forte totaled 813 rushing yards, 218 attempts, and seven touchdowns.

The Jets are rebuilding and well, even before the season has officially started, will be lucky if they win a handful of games. They’re going to be terrible but hey, this name will help keep spirits light considering Forte should hopefully have a better year this time around and used mostly as a receiving target out of the backfield.

Remember, if you’re a Jets fan, just like in these movies, you might have to keep that a secret until a later time. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Next: 18. Frosted Blakes

18. Frosted Blakes

When it comes to cereal, Frosted Flakes tends to lead the pack as among the favorite of many. So much so, it only makes sense with this popular fantasy football team name.

“Frost Blakes” pays homage to the popular cereal and also, don’t forget the famous “Flutie Flakes” that dominated the scene many moons ago. Of course, this centers around quarterback Blake Bortles of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Entering his fourth season with the Jaguars, there is a huge amount of pressure on Bortles to deliver since he is surrounded by a talented core on offense. With newly draft running back Leonard Fournette, perhaps it will help alleviate the load on Bortles so he doesn’t have room to make costly mistakes on the gridiron like we’ve all seen in the past.

Either way, fantasy owners can’t go wrong with this name. I mean, it’s cereal and well, can be enjoyed all year long. Just remember to enjoy some when you’re up early working the waiver wires.

(Photo by Joe Sargent/Getty Images) /

17. RG-3PO

Once promising quarterback Robert Griffin III is, at the time of this writing, still looking for a job as a free agent in the NFL. He was the talk of the NFL back in his rookie season of 2012 with the Washington Redskins.

It was that year that he truly made a name for himself as he totaled 3,200 passing yards, 258 completions, 20 touchdowns, and five interceptions. He hasn’t been the same since then and had an unsuccessful stint with the Cleveland Browns.

You know you’re bad if you can’t even stick around with the Browns but unfortunately for RG3, it is what it is. Injuries have defined his career which has limited his impact in playing consistent football. Hence why, for all of you that love Star Wars as much as I do, “RG-3PO” is a great one for you.

Unfortunately for RG3, his window is closing as training camps have been in full swing and preseason action is upon us. Unless a severe injury happens to a starting quarterback or even a backup, he’s going to have to ponder what’s next in life after football.

Next: 16. Watch my Dak

16. Watch my Dak

Last season was truly one of the biggest for quarterback Dak Prescott who took the NFL by storm. In his rookie season, he put up a year for the ages as he played with a chip on his shoulder due to other NFL teams passing up on him in the 2016 NFL Draft.

In 2016, Prescott totaled 3,667 passing yards, 311 completions, 23 touchdowns, and just four interceptions. “Watch my Dak” is a great name for fantasy owners out there that love America’s Team or want to pay homage to always having someone watch your back.

Of course, not everyone is going to have the insanely talented offensive line of the Dallas Cowboys but at least we can draft Prescott to take care of business as a QB1. Remember, never do a fantasy draft without having at least three, possibly even four options at quarterback.

Drafts can go crazy real quick and if you’re playing with brand new fantasy football players that are doing this for the first time, they will more than likely make the big mistake of drafting a quarterback with their first round draft pick. Clearly, just like the real life Prescott, be patient and wait it out.

Next: 15. Hide and go Zeke

15. Hide and go Zeke

Okay, fine. You probably won’t win a game of hide and go seek against Ezekiel Elliott but this fantasy football name is clever regardless. “Hide and go Zeke” pays homage to the game we all used to play when we were kids.

Elliott, just like his partner in crime Prescott, were two of the main offensive cornerstones on offense for the Cowboys. Elliott ran with determination, purpose, and quite honestly, made it look easy on the gridiron.

This fantasy team name is perfect for fans of the Cowboys and well, a play on words on Elliott’s nickname that was used often during his collegiate career at Ohio State. Nobody predicted that Elliott would have such a huge season but his transition into the NFL was easy, to say the least.

In his rookie season last year, Elliott totaled 1,631 rushing yards, 322 attempts, and 15 touchdowns. It’s easy to see why Elliott will more than likely be the first overall pick in a plethora of fantasy leagues across the globe. If you’re one of them, use this name!

14. Manning of Steel

Even though his big brother has been retired for over a year now, quarterback Eli Manning can easily be considered the Man of Steel, or in this case, “Manning of Steel” which is exactly what he is.

Not only hasn’t he missed a single start in well over a decade, the success that awaits the New York Giants this season easily comes thanks to everything he brings to the table. Manning is ready to continue what he started last year but hopefully, use his super strengths straight to a Super Bowl appearance.

This fantasy team name has been used quite a lot over the years, even back when Peyton Manning was changing plays every three seconds while under center with the Denver Broncos. Either way, if you love and respect the Manning brothers, one can’t go wrong with this name.

Even if you’re not a fan of them, this also works well for all you comic book fans out there since Justice League is right around the corner. Just make sure you don’t grow a mustache if you’re taking selfies wearing a Superman outfit for your fantasy team avatar.

13. Super Mariota Kart

Okay fine, I’ll admit it. I absolutely love and cherish Super Mario Kart. I remember playing it on my old Super Nintendo and instantly fell in love with the franchise. I used to only play as one character and well, this fantasy name pays homage to the legendary video game icon, Super Mario.

“Super Mariota Kart” is perfect for all you Nintendo fans out there and especially of quarterback Marcus Mariota. Mariota has some speed to him as in each of his two seasons with the Tennessee Titans, he’s ran for two touchdowns.

Despite having a severe injury last season, Mariota is ready to enter his third season in the NFL and prove he’s the real deal. He’s shown glimpses of greatness and his leadership, poise, and a cannon for an arm continues to make the Titans early playoff contenders.

If you love Mario Kart and the Titans, this name is perfect for you. Just make sure you keep some turtle shells on you when racing in Super Mario Kart.

Next: 12. Bradies and Edelman

12. Bradies and Edelman

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, “Bradies and Edelman” which was immensely popular in many leagues last season, including in one of which I was a part of. It must have been a good luck charm since the New England Patriots defied all odds and came back from the largest deficit in Super Bowl history and left victorious.

Of course, it couldn’t have been done without Tom Brady and well, that amazing, unreal, couldn’t believe that just happened one-handed catch by wide receiver Julian Edelman. This dynamic duo has made quite a name for themselves as this fantasy team name pays homage to both their incredible efforts with the Patriots.

Remember, even if you hate him, there is no denying the legendary career of Brady as he’s making his ticket to the Pro Football Hall of Fame be one that could be decided within a matter of split seconds. It’s amazing to believe that he was just a sixth round draft pick.

Either way, for all you Patriots fans out there, this name works well for you. To those that don’t care about Brady, just remember to never turn off a football game when No. 12 is behind center as he continues to prove why he’s one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game.

Next: 11. The Wattinator

11. The Wattinator

The Houston Texans are literally just a quarterback away from being a team that can go the distance straight to a Super Bowl appearance. They have everything in place but they still have a big question mark when it comes to their quarterback situation.

Regardless, one player that brings hope for the Texans this season is defensive end J.J. Watt. For all you fans out there that love Watt, then this fantasy team name is perfect for you.

“The Wattinator” is a homage to the ever popular Terminator series. Sure, many believe Watt can probably be stronger than the iconic T-800 Terminator but if he can remain healthy in 2017, he will truly be a force to reckon with.

Get ready fantasy football owners, the Texans might very well field one of the top defenses in 2017. So much so, you should consider drafting their defense to your team. Expect a huge season by Watt as he returns to do what he does best.

Next: 10. The Faces of Eli

10. The Faces of Eli

If you’ve been watching professional football over the years, you’ve undoubtedly stumbled upon one of those classic “Eli Manning faces” that you’ll often times see him do. Whether it’s on the sideline, reacting to an interception he threw, or even when his big brother won the Super Bowl with the Broncos, it’s been a thing now for years.

“The Faces of Eli” is a tribute to all the hilarious faces he’s given football fans for quite some time. Take a look at the video above to truly capture them in all their glory.

This is a great fantasy team name since it not only is for Manning and Big Blue but also one that sticks out for native New Yorkers. Mainly because there is also another member of the Giants that has his first name in cornerback Eli Apple.

Either way, get ready for some new “Manning faces” this upcoming season since if the Giants do go the distance, I’m pretty sure his facial expressions will be priceless. Even more so if they don’t live up to expectations.

9. Shake it Goff

Sometimes in life, when things get rough, you just have to shake it off. Or in this case when it comes to creating a funny fantasy football team name, “Shake it Goff” works well too. This, of course, is a homage to quarterback Jared Goff.

Believe it or not, Goff has yet to win a football game he’s started in with the Los Angeles Rams. That’s right, he’s 0-7 and could probably take the same advice about shaking it off.

Make no mistake about it, Goff is going to be a very good quarterback over time. All he needs to do is get rid of his mental mistakes and yeah, the Rams could use some more talent over the next few years to give him a better supporting cast.

Either way, be ready for another interesting year for those Rams. Moving out to the City of Angels will be quite the story in 2017 as expectations are high but reality might tell a different story.

Next: 8. All I do is Winston

8. All I do is Winston

I promise you, no crab jokes with this one. “All I do is Winston” pays homage to the popular DJ Khaled song that we all love to sing along to. While quarterback Jameis Winston is far from perfect, he has the skill set to continue his progression as one of the best at his position in the league.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a team on the rise and one to keep an eye on in 2017. They have a solid defense and an offense that is pretty dynamic thanks to Winston. Keep in mind that in his first two seasons in the NFL, he’s thrown for over 4,000 receiving yards in each year.

Easily a quarterback on the rise, it wouldn’t be such a bad thing to consider Winston as a QB1 on your fantasy roster. He also doubles up as a rushing threat as in his rookie season, he rushed for six touchdowns. He only had one rushing touchdown last season but who knows if he’ll take more risks if plays open up for him to take off.

If you’re one of those fantasy owners that tend to win a lot of matchups, this name works well for you. Since you know, all you do is win, win, win, no matter what (sorry, I said no crab jokes but didn’t say anything about corny ones).

Next: 7. Such a Fitztragedy

7. Such a Fitztragedy

You didn’t expect to read a list of fantasy football team names of this magnitude without referencing one of the biggest tragedies in all of football that happened last season, right? Oh yes, those Jets sure had their expectations as high as the Super Bowl in 2016 after their 10-6 year in 2015.

Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick held out of training camp last summer since he wanted more money. At the end, the Jets, being desperate, agreed to bring him in on a one-year contract for $12 million. That turned out to be such a dire mistake, you couldn’t make up how bad of a year Fitzpatrick had, including a single game that saw him throw six interceptions.

“Such a Fitztragedy” pays homage to all the broken hearts, spirits, and beer bottles out of pure frustration due to the Jets not only coughing up more money to bring him back but for not demoting him sooner. Believe it or not, Fitzpatrick is now a backup with the Buccaneers, beard and all.

Just like a Broadway show, tragedy is common in drama. Fitzpatrick will always have his vicious cycle of creating epic moments of consistency to where fans are amazed only to bring them back down to reality when it’s realized how much of a terrible quarterback he’s been throughout his entire NFL career.

Next: 6. Aaron It Out

6. Aaron It Out

When it comes to clutch quarterbacks that literally have a rocket launcher for an arm, one can’t have such a conversation without mentioning Aaron Rodgers. The man is notoriously known for his Hail Mary attempts that more often than not, are game-changing in favor of his Green Bay Packers leaving victorious.

“Aaron It Out” is a homage to all those incredible passes that look effortless for Rodgers. The Packers consistently make the NFL Playoffs as it’s no secret Rodgers is the catalyst and face of the franchise that has made them have a shot year in, year out.

Even if the Packers are down and out, Rodgers can rally his team to continue fighting and never give up. The man has done it time and time again as every season, he gets closer and closer to making another Super Bowl appearance.

This is a fantasy team name that is all about confidence, taking risks, and yeah, is perfect for cheeseheads everywhere. Plus wouldn’t it be ironic if you go with this name and actually have Rodgers as your QB1? Talk about a winning situation.

Next: 5. Carrfully picked Skittles

5. Carrfully picked Skittles

As we reach the top five funny fantasy football teams, these are easily some of the best to consider using in 2017. The football world was shocked when just a few months ago, running back Marshawn Lynch came out of retirement to play for the Oakland Raiders.

This solidifies the Raiders are an early contender and yes, even Super Bowl favorites. If it wasn’t for quarterback Derek Carr getting severely injured last season, there is no telling how far they could have gone. Now, they have “Beast Mode” back and ready to play for his hometown team.

“Carrfully picked Skittles” pays homage to both Lynch and Carr since well, we all probably have our favorite Skittles color. Lynch doesn’t really care since he loves them more than anyone on this planet.

It’s rumored Lynch will receive the majority of reps as a starter which is fine for Raiders Nation and well, football fans everywhere. Besides being hilarious, we all want him to succeed before the Raiders eventually leave for Las Vegas.

Next: 4. Need more Falcohol

4. Need more Falcohol

After watching the Super Bowl for over three decades since I was just five years old, I’ve never seen such a comeback in my life. The biggest game and sporting event in the world always delivers but Super Bowl LI was beyond words incredible.

The Falcons had the Patriots just where they wanted them but unfortunately, couldn’t seal the deal. It’s a shame, really. Being a diehard Jets fan isn’t easy but a part of me couldn’t help but be amazed to see the Falcons blow such a lead and allowed the Patriots to make Super Bowl history.

“Need more Falcohol” pretty much sums up how fans of the Falcons and anyone that hates the Patriots felt once they made their incredible comeback. One can only imagine how bad Falcons fans felt as this fantasy name pays homage to well, needing more alcohol to deal with almost winning a Super Bowl championship.

Everyone thought the Falcons would do the unthinkable and just when everyone thought it was over, it was far from it. Brady has and will always find a way to defy even the greatest odds against him and his Patriots.

3. Don’t be Petty

Can it be any worse than being a Jets fan at this point in time? There is no hope whatsoever when it comes to the Jets making the NFL Playoffs in 2017, let alone even win more than three or four football games tops.

More from The Jet Press

“Don’t be Petty” pays homage to quarterback Bryce Petty who, unfortunately, is penciled in as the third quarterback on the depth chart. Yeah, that’s right, he can’t even beat out Josh McCown or Christian Hackenberg in training camp heading into preseason action.

I guess the best thing to take away from all this is that one shouldn’t be petty in life. Yeah, it could be a lot worse for Petty but he can still bounce back and prove his worth. But again, these are the Jets we’re talking about.

Either way, this is a great name for those Jets fans out there that still plan to root for this team and hold onto hope that this season won’t be so bad. Ah, who am I kidding? The Jets are going to be the worst team in all of football this year as I am excited to try out different brands of premium Scotch throughout the regular season to help deal.

2. Saved by the Odell

Okay fine, I have to get something off my chest. I had a crush on Kelly Kapowski from Saved by the Bell while growing up. She was a cheerleader and everything a teenager could ask for. Now that I got that out of my system, this particular fantasy football team name goes out to all those 90’s kids out there that loved this television sitcom just as much as I did.

“Saved by the Odell” has been popular for the past two years since it goes perfectly for those that love the Giants and of course, their star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. Yes, the man continues to redefine the wide receiver position and at the end of the day, for all the drama and distractions he brings, he’s still one phenomenal athlete.

Hopefully, Beckham wisens up and begins to understand that maturity goes a very long way in becoming humble and an overall complete NFL player. If he can mature and focus on putting it all on the gridiron where it matters most, there is no telling just how great of a wide receiver he can be as he enters the prime years of his career.

Either way, expect to see Beckham have another impressive season as fantasy owners should easily consider him a WR1 option. Just make sure he stays away from Kelly, okay?

1. Osweiler’s Golden Pen

Easily the funniest and top funny fantasy football name to use in 2017 is “Osweiler’s Golden Pen” due to what occurred just about a year ago. As quarterback Brock Osweiler hit free agency last season after winning Super Bowl 50 with the Broncos, he signed a ridiculous contract with the Houston Texans.

The Texans gave him a $72 million contract with $37 million guaranteed just for him to sign his name. That’s right, they wasted all that money on him as he lasted just one season with the Texans.

In 2016, Osweiler totaled 2,957 passing yards, 301 completions, 15 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions. Besides some erratic and inconsistent play under center, he was a locker room cancer and got into several altercations with players and coaches.

Needless to say, Osweiler was eventually traded by the Texans to the Browns this offseason. One can only imagine if Osweiler still kept that golden pen he signed his Texans contract with since it should probably be cased and put somewhere for storage. You know, to open it up 30 years from now and laugh at why the Texans broke the bank for a quarterback that played in only a handful of games for the Broncos.
