Since the New York Jets played last season in the International Series in London, have they expressed interest in playing in China come 2018?

It is no secret that the NFL is looking to expand the game of American football well beyond our borders.  The International Series has taken, or is scheduled to take the NFL to London, Mexico City, and now possibly China and Germany as soon as 2018.  The goal of the league is to eventually establish franchises in these international cities.

According to the NFL’s Brian McCarthy via Twitter, many teams have expressed interest in playing in China, the farthest distance any NFL game has ever been played from home.  Could the Jets be on the short-list?

Several NFL teams already have expressed interest in participating in game in China. Confirmed by NFL’s Brian McCarthy (@NFLprguy).

The Jets may be a viable contender to play in China, as they played against the Dolphins in London on October 4, 2015.  The site of the game in China is apparently going to be the Bejing National Stadium, or, known colloquially as the “Nest”, the site of the 2008 Summer Olympics.  This stadium seats 91,000 spectators.  The $1.5 billion MetLife Stadium, the home of the Jets and New York Giants, seats 82,500, the largest capacity in the league.

Overall, it would be very interesting to see the Jets be one of the first teams of the NFL to showcase their style of football in China.  One can only imagine the festivities, pre and post game events plus not to mention, introducing Gang Green to a legion of new fans that would be exposed to one of the most historic teams in the league.
