Video: Exclusive video interview with Devin Smith

In an exclusive video interview with FanSided.com’s Mark Carman, newly drafted wide receiver Devin Smith talks about what it was like at the 2015 NFL Draft. It’s refreshing to see the kind of mentality Smith has as he prepares his journey into the NFL as one of the newest members of the New York Jets. He seems humble and mentally prepared for what awaits him over the next few months.
Take a look at the interview in its entirety below:
In his collegiate career at Ohio State, Smith contributed 2,503 yards on 121 receptions for 30 touchdowns. His yards per catch average was 20.7 which should yield some nice results once he transitions into the receiving corps of the Jets.
The Jets have had consistent problems on offense, especially when it came down to scoring touchdowns on key drives to at least remain competitive in matchups. The Jets knew heading into this offseason that their offense needed an infusion of speed and talent to really push the envelope come next season.
At 6’0″ and 196 pounds, Smith has the skill-set to bolster the Jets’ offense nicely. He makes big plays especially when going down deep which will be a nice dimension to have on an offense that lacked any vertical threat the past few seasons.
Regardless of who is under center for the Jets at quarterback, as long as you have a decent roster of receiving targets, you can make it work. While many feel the Jets will struggle next season due to their big question mark at quarterback, with play-makers like Smith in the mix, they will be just fine in the grand scheme of things.
