New York Jets S Jaiquawn Jarrett Signs Contract Tender

A bit of roster housekeeping that got lost in the shuffle from the end of the past week.
S Jaiquawn Jarrett has signed his tender, and will be returning to the New York Jets for a third season. Jarrett was a restricted free agent, and was given a third round tender prior to the free agent period. He will be returning next season as the top returning member of a secondary that, frankly, was pretty awful last season. We don’t need to discuss that much anymore.
Jaiquwan Jarrett’s coming out party came last season in the Jets win over the Steelers. That afternoon, Jarrett posted the first two interceptions, and the first fumble recovery of his career, to go along with ten tackles. He wasn’t a starter, but Jarrett certainly had his moments as a productive member of the Jets secondary.
Jarrett is a solid player, and he will be good to bring back in 2015. He will be part of a mix at safety that includes Calvin Pryor, and Marcus Gilchrist. Jarrett likely won’t start, but he is a top supplemental player to add depth to the New York Jets.
Pass defense has all the chance in the world to be a strength of the New York Jets in 2015.
