Could the Jets be bringing another familiar face back to town? No, it’s not a former Jet, but it’s a player familiar with the New York football landscape. Several reports have emerged tonight that the Jets have had Osi Umenyiora, former New York Giants and current Atlanta Falcons defensive end.

Umenyiora is now 33 years old, but has had quite the career as a pass rusher. Over 11 years, Umenyiora has posted 85 sacks. He is not the player he once was, filling a backup role in Atlanta last year and recording 12 tackles and only 2.5 sacks. He could add some depth to an already strong core group on the Jets defensive line.

In other news, the Jets are set to host Denarius Moore, wide receiver formerly of the Oakland Raiders,on Thursday. For his career, Moore has posted 142 receptions for 2,169 yards and 17 touchdowns. His best year was 2012 when Moore posted 51 receptions for 741 yards and seven touchdowns.

Both players, if signed, would provide depth on either side of the football. I don’t see Umenyiora cracking the starting lineup, but imagine adding a talent like him on passing downs. The front seven could be tremendous.

Moore is a solid receiver, and could add to a vastly improved Jets group at the position.
