New York Jets Release Percy Harvin

The news was released that the Brandon Marshall trade became official.  The Jets received a seventh round pick along with Marshall in return for their fifth round pick.  With that, Percy Harvin’s time in New York came to a close.  The team has announced that they have released Percy Harvin.  With no money guaranteed in 2015, the Jets save $10.5 million against the salary cap.  They also have to send a sixth round pick to the Seahawks as part of the trade for Harvin’s services.

According to Brian Costello of the Post, the Jets are open to bringing Harvin back for the right deal on both sides.

This was no surprise, as Harvin has been nowhere near as productive as Marshall.  Add that to the fact that he came at a cheaper price and this result was inevitable.

This also clears up quite a bit of money, seemingly freeing up the Jets to make a huge run at someone.  We know they have great interest in the return of Darrelle Revis.  Could they be looking at a reunion with Antonio Cromartie as well, to bring back the duo?

We do not know yet obviously, but it seems like that a big play is coming for someone.
