I will let this tweet from Adam Schefter tell you the news for me:

Darrelle Revis‘ agents announce he has agreed to terms with the Jets.

So it has happened. Revis Island has returned to New Jersey, as Darrelle Revis brings his skills back to the New York Jets. Word from Adam Schefter is that the financials include more than $40 million guaranteed. I will update with the financials as they come available.

UPDATE:

Reports are indicating that the deal is for five years, $70 million, hearing $39 million guaranteed, $48 million in the first three years.

We know where I stand on this. I am not going to sit here and say that Darrelle Revis is not going to upgrade the Jets secondary. He will be a huge upgrade. Rex Ryan has to be seething over this.

The problem for me is everything else that comes with Darrelle Revis. The drama is too much. That much money for a cornerback is crazy, first of all. Secondly, the Jets aren’t close enough to a Super Bowl that bringing Revis back puts them over the top. By the time they get close, Revis will be playing everyone for a new contract again, and we will be right back where we used to be.

On the field, how can you not love it? But the drama makes Darrelle Revis not worth it to me.
