New York Jets Choose Trae Waynes in Latest Jeremiah Mock Draft

You can turn on the NFL Network almost any day and you will run into Daniel Jeremiah. He has been in the NFL as a scout, and now spends a good deal of time looking at the NFL prospects. You hear from Jeremiah during the season, and was one of the studio hosts during the Network’s coverage of the NFL Combnie in Indianapolis.
A few days ago, Jeremiah released his latest mock draft, marking his third overall for the young off-sesason. And for the Jets, he chose Michigan St. CB Trae Waynes. Here is what he had to say:
The Jets could easily go quarterback here, but in this scenario I have them upgrading the cornerback position. New head coach Todd Bowles loves to blitz and he can’t with the current lack of talent at the corner spot.
Take a look at the whole mock here:
Again, this is not an argument without merit. The Jets need a CB desperately. Waynes is one of those. Here his college stats:

If the Jets were going to draft a cornerback, I would much prefer to see them choose one that is more of a ball-hawk. Waynes doesn’t have that type of track record, and there are several good free agent options at the position.
The Jets could do better than that.
