Mike Maccagnan is getting right to work for the Jets as the week in Indianpolis begins. And it looks like one of his first orders of business is to protect his own:

First we learn yesterday that he is meeting with Muhammad Wilkerson’s camp to see if they can work out a big extension. Now the Jets are looking into bringing home David Harris. We all know how great David Harris has been, eclipsing the 1,000 tackle mark last season. He may be a shade slower, but he is still as consistent as they come at the linebacker position.
I believe there is a good shot that David Harris will be back in 2015. Moving on would certainly be understandable due to his age, but I don’t see a big market for him in free agency. As our buddy Joe Caporso said, unless Rex Ryan wants to overpay for him next year, which is possible, Harris should become an affordable option, even if he is relegated to a backup role. He certainly has the leadership abilities needed to help the Jets defense move forward.
