New York Jets Sheldon Richardson Named to the Pro Bowl

Nick Mangold is going to have company at this year’s Pro Bowl game.
Word has come out that Sheldon Richardson, previously an alternate, as been added to the Pro Bowl roster. Richardson will replace Gerald McCoy, who will not be able to play due to injury. Richardson joins Nick Mangold as the two Jets representatives in this year’s game. Richardson was well deserving, backing up his fine rookie year with a sophomore campaign where he posted eight sacks.
As noted on the Jets website, this marks the first time a defensive tackle for the Jets has been named to the Pro Bowl since Kris Jenkins earned the honor in 2008. Previous to that, Joe Klecko and John Elliot (no not the Miracle at the Meadowlands one) were the only other players at the position to earn that honor.

It remains to be seen which squad Richardson will play for, as the Pro Bowl draft with captains Michael Irvin and Cris Carter is scheduled for one week from tonight, Jan 21st. The game is set to take place on Sunday, January 25th.
Congratulations to Sheldon Richardson on a standout performance in an otherwise very rotten New York Jets season.
Maybe one of these years, our guys won’t be able to play because they will have a game the next week.
