More news this morning, as it looks like the Jets have their man for general manager, take a look:
#Jets are expected to hire #Texans college scouting director Mike Maccagnan as the new GM, per source. No surprise, he’s been in town 3 days
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) January 11, 2015
Mike Maccagnan has been around the Jets for three days now, as noted by Rappaport. Maccagnan is a protege of Jets consultant Charley Casserly, so the attraction has been no surprise.
Maccagnan has been the director of college scouting for the Houston Texans. Casserly brought him on during his time with the Redskins, and he moved along to the Texans with him, moving up through the scouting department.

It’s a good match simply because Maccagnan has an extensive personnel background. John Idzik did not, as we all know, and misrepresented himself when he came over to the team. The Jets are on the right track here.
