Report: Rex Ryan Cleans Out Office, Jim Harbaugh Heading to Michigan

By Alan Schechter

Well, it sounds like the writing is on the wall. At least, Rex Ryan believes that it is.

According to published reports, Jets coach Rex Ryan has emptied out his office at Jets headquarters in Florham Park, NJ. The report indicates that Charley Casserley has already begun the process of vetting potential head coaches for the Jets to take a look at. If Rex has already done that, but doesn’t know his fate as of yet, we could say that Rex is aware of what is coming on Monday.

For those of you that want Jim Harbaugh to be the guy, it sounds like that might not be the case. Take a look at this Tweet from John U. Bacon, New York Times writer:

I just got off the phone with more sources tonight. It’s done. Jim Harbaugh is coming to Michigan – and his friends are flying in Monday.

So it sounds like Jim Harbaugh, if this source has it right, will be heading on back to the college ranks following the season. If that’s the case, it will be interesting to see the list of candidates that begins to surface.

But, it seems like the writing is on the wall, that the Rex Ryan era has around 36 hours remaining.
