The bearded man for the New York Jets has been acknowledged once again by the fans.

The Pro Bowl selections have been released, and the Jets have one representative. Nick Mangold has been selected to his sixth Pro Bowl in the last seven seasons. Mangold is now tied with his predecessor, Kevin Mawae, for second most Pro Bowl appearances in New York Jets history. The duo of centers only trails former Jets great Winston Hill, who was an All-Star in either the AFL or NFL eight times from 1964-1973.

The Jets also had four players selected as alternates, D’Brickashaw Ferguson, Chris Ivory, Sheldon Richardson, and Muhammad Wilkerson. The highest alternate out of the group is Richardson, who is a second alternate. Big Mo is a third alternate, D’Brickashaw Ferguson is a fifth alternate, and Chris Ivory rounds things out as the eighth alternate.

Ironically, Mangold may be the one not able to play, thanks to the high ankle sprain he suffered against the Patriots last week. Rex Ryan doesn’t think there is a great chance that Mangold can play this week, and he will likely rest his ankle instead of testing it out at the Pro Bowl.

Congratulations to all five guys.
