It may be too little, too late, but the inevitable was announced by Rex Ryan just moments ago.

In his Monday press conference, Rex Ryan announced that Michael Vick will start the week nine game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Vick took over for an ineffective Geno Smith on Sunday, and went 18-36 with no touchdowns and the one interception on the pass attempt to Kerley.
Vick was only modestly effective, but he did bring a sense of spirit back to the Jets offense. The change had to be made when Smith threw interceptions on three consecutive drives. Vick kept the Jets in the game before two lost fumbles of his own proved costly. As mentioned on the broadcast, some of Vick’s progression reads were off, but that should get better as the rust falls away.
Is this the end for Geno Smith? Maybe, but hard to tell at this point. But at least the Jets have made a change that the fan base has been looking for, to try and energize the team a bit.
