John Izdik has made some news today, giving their most consistent wide receiver a four year contract extension. I am talking about Jeremy Kerley of course, who the Jets announced the extension for today.
Kerley’s done a lot of pass-catching and made a good amount of other contributions in his three-plus seasons in green and white. Heading into this season, he had 128 receptions for 1,664 yards (13.0 yards/catch) and six touchdowns, which included a big game vs. New England last year with six third-down conversions on receptions.

Jeremy Kerley also has a mark of 61 punt returns for a 10.5 yard aveage and one touchdonw to his credit. Kerley has not only been consistent, but been tough, only missing three games over his three plus years as a Jet, despite suffering a nasty elbow injury last season. This season, Kerley has added 22 catches for 201 yards and one TD. He has had notable passes nullified by penalty like last week in New England, or for being just out of bounds, such as against Green Bay.
Per Ian Rappaport, the deal is woth $16 million, $5.4 guaranteed.
Kerley is deserving, as he has been the most consistent WR on the team for his three years running. He even brought the best out of Mark Sanchez, which even I will admit was hard to do at times.
