Going to skip an “Earning Their Wings” article tonight, as nobody really did, as we all just unfortunately watched.
Rex Ryan did announce during his press conference after the game that Geno Smith will be his starter next week, when the Jets face the Denver Broncos at MetLife. After a 27 yard performance in the first half, Geno Smith was benched in favor of backup Michael Vick, who didn’t fare much better, with only 47 yards passing, most coming in garbage time at the end of the game.
Seeing this one, it is the right move. Not too many fans want to hear this, but it is. Geno Smith doesn’t have much going on around him to help him out. Yes, he has played poorly. But, the team played horribly in all faces. The Jets were gashed all day long. That obviously is not on Geno Smith. The Jets have too many problems to fix by leaving Geno Smith on the bench.
This is the right move. Sorry to everyone that wants to see Vick next week.
