On New Year’s Eve day in 2006, the Jets headed to Giants Stadium with the opportunity to go 10-6. The Raiders came into the tri-state playing out the string, with a 2-13 record entering the final week. Let’s travel back and see how it turned out.
Well, the Jets opened the scoring in the first quarter, with an eight play , 44 yard drive that culminated in a one yard touchdown pass from Chad Pennington to Chris Baker. The two teams exchanged field goals in the second quarter.
The Jets broke it open in the second half. After a Mike Nugent field goal in the third quarter, the Jets put the game away in the fourth with a ten play, 56 yard drive that was topped off by a 15 yard touchdown run by Leon Washington. The final score of the game was 23-3, and the Jets went on to the playoffs to face our good friends from New England.
