The Jets are not down to 75 players just yet, but they have until Tuesday at 4 PM to get there. John Idzik and company have been hard at work, however, and have reduced the roster down to 81 players. Here are the guys that have been released, courtesy of a release from the Jets:
Bruce Campbell, T
Steele Divitto, LB
Patrick Ford, OL
Andrew Furney, K
Jacob Schum, P
Michael Smith, RB
Markus Zusevics, OL
There were no real surprises on this list, as nobody here at a real shot at making the team. The biggest, almost surprise to me is Jacob Schum. Not because he had earned his spot on the team to this point, but because he never really got a chance to compete. Ryan Quigley is quite inconsistent at the punting spot, and Schum never really saw much action in competition.
Good luck in particular to Andrew Furney. It was a special night for him during week one of the preseason, when he won the game for the Jets with a long field goal. Hopefully someone liked his tape and he will get a chance to play.
