This news is just coming out, courtesy of the team.

Rookie WR/KR Jalen Saunders was in a one car accident this morning, which occurred on the way to the facilities in Florham Park, NJ. Saunders was taken to the hospital for monitoring on a precautionary basis, however, he will not travel or play tomorrow night when the Jets take on the Bengals.

It doesn’t sound like it is serious, as evidenced by the fact that the team is using the word “precautionary”. We can only hope that it is not serious, as this would be a big blow to the young rookie.

The Jets are looking for big things out of Saunders, using him as the primary punt returner, as well as wide receiver. He fielded five punts last week, returning two for 11 yards. He also posted one reception on offense.

As I mentioned from Cortland over the weekend, this kid has great natural speed. If Saunders is healthy, he could be quite the slash type of weapon along the offense. Hopefully he is not seriously hurt.
