One preseason game is in the books, so let’s see what Rex Ryan had to say about it. First, his thoughts on Eric Decker and Chris Johnson:

You see why we’re so high on them. Decker presents that big target, but the thing I like most about him is that he’s a team guy. He’s competitive. He blocks. He’s starting to dig out those safeties. I was really happy with him. Obviously, we didn’t bring him in here to be a blocker; we’d put a full cage on him if we did. That’s just the kind of guy he is. I’m proud he’s on this football team. As far as Chris Johnson, I’m glad we don’t have to defend him. He still has great speed. He made a few plays and got hit a couple of times, but he popped up and had a big smile on his face, so he’s ready to roll.

Michael Vick showed that he still has wheels:

He looked great. He looked great. When you have them all covered up, you better account for the quarterback. When a quarterback can run for first downs…we saw Geno do it a few times along with Mike. It puts a huge, huge stress on the defense.

Dee Milliner had one excellent pass breakup in the end zone:

Backed in (to their own end zone), they have 10 more yards on you. Sometimes, you’ll actually play underneath. I thought he should have picked it. When you look at it, it was a great play on his part, but I was like, ‘Come on, Dee. Come up with that one.’ He’s doing a great job. I would have loved to see him come up with that interception, but he made a great play.

Bottom line? It’s a building process, they did well, but they still have a long way to go.
