A day after the St. Louis Rams waived Daryl Richardson, the New York Jets sent in a claim and were awarded the 5’10” running back.

The 2012 seventh-round selection, Richardson appeared in eight games, accumulating 215 yards on 69 attempts. He did not score a touchdown, but did manage to finish the year with zero turnovers. He lost the Rams starting job to Zac Stacy, who broke out in 2013.  Richardson’s best performance as a Ram came in week two of he 2o12 season where he posted 15 carries for 83 yards against the Washington Redskins.

The 24-year-old will join a crowded backfield that includes Chris Johnson, Chris Ivory, Bilal Powell, and Mike Goodson. This addition looks like Goodson may lose his spot on the Jets roster.

Richardson has the potential to be a solid player in the NFL, as he has quick feet that gives him the ability to juke past defenders and make plays in open space with the ball in his hands.

There is no doubt that Marty and company like the consistency of a Richardson, who doesn’t turn the ball over.

Fun Fact: Richardson is also the cousin of New York Jets wide receiver Clyde Gates, who had 122 yards on 12 receptions in six games.
