We are under two weeks away from the big night. The delay is finally coming to an end, with the NFL draft getting ready to begin from Radio City Music Hall on May 8th.

With the delay, there will more discussions about players, coaches….etc., than usual. Sometimes, the fans’ thoughts come from far off different directions. Tonight, we are talking about a player that has received a lot of recent ink for the Jets to draft in the first round.

That player is Darqueze Dennard.

First we take a look at his stats from school as always:

Defense & Fumbles

Clearly, Dennard can make a big play when the football is in the air.

He measures in a 5’11”, 199 pounds. He ran the 40 yard dash in 4.51 seconds.

Here is some video to watch:

PROS: Dennard has excellent ball skills. His timing to go and get the football without going through the receiver is uncanny. Watch him get his arms in the receiver’s way at just the right time. It is enjoyable to this guy tackle through his opponent, and not miss.

CONS: There wasn’t much to dislike in this guy. The only thing I noticed is that once in a while, he might over-commit to a play, or a route. It works in college, but in the pros, a receiver can make a move on that player with relative ease.

All in all, Dennard would be an excellent New York Jet. I am still not for the first round for him, still think it should be offense. But the Jets can’t really go wrong if they go here either.
